Rosatom presented cable and superconducting products at Cabex 2024

Rusatom Metal Tech LLC (an integrator company of Rosatom's Fuel Division in the Metallurgy area) presented its line of heavy-duty wires of increased flexibility and electrical conductivity made of copper-niobium alloy and superconducting products at the Cabex 2024 exhibition in Moscow.

Heavy-duty wires of increased flexibility and electrical conductivity (with a diameter from 0.03 mm to 15 mm) were presented at the stand of Rusatom Metal Tech LLC - these are copper-niobium alloy contact wires for high-speed railways, shielding lightweight braided copper-niobium wire, especially thin wires coated with silver, tin, nickel or uncoated, heavy-duty wires for the creation of magnetic systems for medical tomographs, electric motors and generators.

A particularly thin wire based on a copper-niobium alloy, designed for the production of a wire mesh, has no analogues in the world. It is the only conductor based on a copper-niobium alloy with an exceptionally high complex of electrical conductivity and mechanical strength. These copper-niobium filaments replace expensive single-core gold-plated molybdenum wires or multi-core gold-plated tungsten wires, metal knitted tapes, while providing the best quality in terms of weight and strength compared with traditional material: lightweight, durable, does not release, does not crumple, restores its shape after mechanical influences, and ensures dimensional stability of the reflector.

Potential customers also noted the excellent technical characteristics of the installation heat and radiation resistant wire produced by Rusatom Metal Tech LLC. This wire is used as a control, coupling and connecting cable in electrical devices, under conditions of increased mechanical requirements and for fixed installation as part of the on-board cable network of rocket and space technology. The copper-niobium alloy-based wire is the only one in Russia that remains operational under the influence of an open fire at a temperature of 1,150 C for 5 minutes.

In addition to cable and conductor products, the stand presented niobium-titanium and niobium-tin superconductors, which are used in basic science projects, in the creation of modern medical equipment (for example, magnetic resonance imaging), transport and industrial sectors, as well as in high- and ultra-high-resolution analytical equipment, such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers.

"Our company is a full-cycle manufacturer of heavy-duty copper-niobium alloy wires from raw materials to finished products, which is especially important considering import substitution issues. Our products are in demand for high–speed railway transport, precision engineering, electronics and microelectronics, robotics industry, and are also used in industries where reliability and safety issues are of paramount importance — in nuclear energy, aviation and space technology," commented Andrey Andrianov, General Director of Rusatom Metal Tech LLC.

The Cabex 2024 exhibition was attended by more than 4,500 representatives of specialized companies, expert economists, scientific and technical specialists, heads of specialized enterprises and associations. Visitors of the exhibition were able to get acquainted with manufacturers and suppliers of cables, wires, cable accessories, wiring sand electrical products, equipment and materials.

The Russian industry faces the goal of ensuring technological sovereignty and the transition to the latest technologies in the shortest possible time. The state and large domestic companies are directing resources to accelerate the development of the domestic research, infrastructure, scientific and technological base. The introduction of innovations and new high-tech equipment allows Rosatom and its enterprises to occupy new niches in the market, increasing the competitiveness of the nuclear industry and the Russian industry as a whole.

Rusatom Metallurgical Technologies LLC is a divisional integrator of the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom in the Metallurgy direction.

The tasks of developing the metallurgical business of the Fuel Company include, in particular, expanding the customer base in Russia and abroad, developing production capacities, and creating new alliances and partnerships. The technological partners of Rusatom Metallurgical Technologies LLC are enterprises specializing in the production of products from refractory and light metals, as well as alloys based on them. The integrator consolidates the competencies of TVEL JSC enterprises in the field of metallurgy: ChMZ JSC, MSZ JSC, NZHK PJSC, Elemash Magnit LLC, NPO Centrotech LLC, VNIINM JSC.

The scientific potential, technological competencies, and qualified personnel of the enterprises allow us to carry out work on launching into mass production of new materials and promising product ranges, as well as quickly respond to the needs of leading industries and high-tech companies.

The Fuel Division of Rosatom State Corporation (TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom) includes enterprises for the manufacture of nuclear fuel, conversion and enrichment of uranium, production of gas centrifuges, as well as research and design organizations. Being the only exclusive of nuclear fuel for Russian nuclear power plants, TVEL provides fuel to a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, research reactors in nine countries of the world, as well as transport reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world is powered by TVEL fuel.

ROSATOM's Fuel Division is the world's largest producer of enriched uranium, as well as the leader of the global market for stable isotopes. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in the field of chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, as well as decommissioning of nuclear facilities. Rosatom's industry integrators for additive technologies and power storage systems have been created in the TVEL Fuel Company circuit. http://www.tvel.ru
