Rusatom Metal Tech LLC presented new solutions for the creation of ceramic products and the calcium production

Within the framework of the XIX Russian Conference of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry of Molten and Solid State Electrolytes, held at the site of the Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg, Rusatom Metal Tech LLC (an enterprise of the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom, a divisional integrator in the Metallurgy direction) held two round tables on the production of calcium and the creation of a full production cycle of high-tech ceramic products.

The round table "Challenges and prospects for the development of the ceramic materials industry for use in high-tech products" highlighted issues related to the need for import substitution, the need for own raw material base and the creation of modern zirconium dioxide powders in the Russian Federation for the manufacture of high-tech ceramic products for medical and electrochemical purposes.

Olga Ospennikova, Advisor to the President of TVEL JSC, noted that it is very important to develop and have own raw materials for the production of ceramics for electrochemical and medical purposes, and this is now one of the main challenges for the industry. A breakthrough cannot be implemented without the comprehensive development of deep processing of raw materials, which should contribute to the formation of technological sovereignty. "The country needs to ensure its technological independence, the role of science and our scientists are coming to the fore," said Viktor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU. — And, certainly, the close interaction of science with the industrial sector plays a key role here for the early introduction of advanced developments at enterprises. It is very important that representatives of a large number of enterprises take part in the round table, including Rosatom State Corporation: we are implementing a number of major projects with them."

One of the key outcomes of the discussion was the decision to form a list of tasks to include the additional section "Ceramic materials"; to the roadmap "Technologies of new materials and substances"; approved by the Government of the Russian Federation and to organize an annual All-Russian conference on ceramic materials to provide manufacturers, consumers and developers of technologies for the manufacture of powder and ceramic materials with the opportunity to exchange experience, competencies and formation of a consolidated knowledge base.

At the round table "Development of resource- and energy-efficient technology for electrolysis of calcium salts and hardware and technological scheme for obtaining distilled metallic calcium", the most acute problems of calcium production, prospects for electrolytic technology of metallic calcium were considered, decisions were made on joint research and R, D and regular meetings on the creation of a center for electrolysis technologies of calcium, lithium, and magnesium. Partners from the industrial sector noted the need to involve the UB RAS IHTE in the work.

Following the results of two round tables, Andrey Andrianov, General Director of Rusatom Metal Tech LLC, stressed the importance of a systematic partnership between science, production and business. Rusatom Metal Tech LLC supplies the market with high-purity zirconium dioxide powders, zirconium ceramic products, chemically pure metallic calcium and calcium injection wire of the highest quality for strategically important industries. We guarantee that our products comply with the strictest GOST requirements and meet the needs of customers. Rusatom Metal Tech provides its customers not only with a product, but also with a comprehensive service for its application, including the supply and technical support of products on the customers territory, which allows us to fully understand the needs of our customers and offer them only the best product," commented Andrey Andrianov.

The Russian industry has a goal to ensure technological sovereignty and transition to the latest technologies as soon as possible. The state and large domestic companies direct resources to accelerate the development of the domestic research, infrastructure, scientific and technological base. The introduction of innovations and new high-tech equipment allows Rosatom and its enterprises to occupy new niches in the market, increasing the competitiveness of the nuclear industry and the entire Russian industry as a whole.

Rusatom Metallurgical Technologies LLC is a divisional integrator of the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom in the Metallurgy direction. The tasks of developing the metallurgical business of the Fuel Company include, in particular, expanding the customer base in Russia and abroad, developing production facilities, and creating new alliances and partnerships. The Branch Center of Metallurgy, created at the facilities of the Chepetsky Mechanical Plant in Glazov (ChMZ JSC) is under control of the integrator: this is a modern full-cycle complex from hydrometallurgy to rolling, producing a wide range of products of refractory and light metals, alloys based on them, including in the form of rolled products with high precision geometric parameters and quality surfaces.

The integrator also consolidates the competencies of the following Fuel Division enterprises in the field of metallurgy: MSZ JSC, NCCP PJSC, Elemash Magnit LLC, NPO Centrotech LLC, and VNIINM JSC. The scientific potential, technological competencies, and qualified personnel of enterprises make it possible to carry out work on the launch of mass production of new materials and promising product ranges, as well as promptly respond to the needs of leading industries and high-tech companies.

Rosatoms TVEL Fuel Company (the Fuel Division of the Rosatom State Corporation) includes enterprises for the manufacture of nuclear fuel, conversion and enrichment of uranium, production of gas centrifuges, as well as research and development organizations. As the sole supplier of nuclear fuel to Russian nuclear power plants, TVEL provides fuel to a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, research reactors in nine countries around the world, as well as transport reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world is powered by TVEL fuel.

Rosatoms Fuel Division is the worlds largest manufacturer of enriched uranium, as well as the leader of the global stable isotope market. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in the fields of chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, as well as decommissioning of nuclear facilities. Rosatoms industry integrators for additive technologies and energy storage systems have been created in the TVEL Fuel Company. http://www.tvel.ru
