Rusatom Metal Tech LLC (an enterprise of the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom, a divisional
integrator in the Metallurgy direction) organized an expert session at the Annual Scientific and
Practical Conference with international participation "Vredenov Readings".
"Vredenov Readings" is a conference for specialists in the field of surgical treatment of diseases
and injuries of joints. Leading experts not only from Russia and the CIS countries, but also from
foreign countries take part in it.
As part of the business program, master classes and satellite events of the largest orthopedic
companies were held. One of the central events of the conference became the expert session
"The industry of traumatology and orthopedics today. Answers and solutions of the industry to
global challenges", organized by Rusatom Metal Tech LLC together with the Federal State
Autonomous Institution "Institute of Medical Materials" of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of
Russia.
The key topics for discussion were issues related to import substitution in the industry, providing
the industry with raw materials and materials used in the production of medical devices. The
session participants also raised the topical issue of the creation of an R, D center as a solution
for forming the countrys technological sovereignty in the production of medical devices.
The experts paid special attention to the development of medical and technical partnership
between manufacturers of medical devices and the medical community, as well as the system of
state support for domestic manufacturers of medical devices. Andrey Generalov, Director of the
Institute of Medical Materials (FSAI "IMM", said that currently the institute is contributing to
the development of 20 import-substituting projects for the development and production of
medical devices for traumatology and orthopedics, including the Rusatom Metal Techs project
for the development of implants for osteosynthesis and endoprostheses of large joints.
Vadim Dubrov, Head of the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Disaster Medicine,
Faculty of Fundamental Medicine, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Chief Traumatologist-
Orthopedist of the Moscow Healthcare Department, spoke from the medical community.
There are private companies in the country that manufacture titanium products, but we need a
wide range of products with their high quality. And most importantly, there should be such
production volumes that will provide warehouses of medical institutions with high-quality
implants and allow patients not to wait for an operation for even one extra minute. Cooperation
of the medical community with domestic manufacturers of medical devices of small and
medium-sized businesses and such major players as Rosatom will allow us to achieve these goals
more effectively," Vadim Dubrov added.
"In 2023, Rusatom Metal Tech established a subsidiary Rusatom Implantat LLC for the high-
tech production of medical implanted devices and materials for their manufacture. We plan to
expand our product line. The concept of creating a large-scale production of hip implants and
knee endoprostheses is currently being worked out. The production program of the project is
designed for the manufacture of at least 30 thousand hip implants and knee
endoprostheses. Another vector of development is the creation of production of medical products
made of ceramics. Moreover, together with the Institute of Medical Materials, we are working on
a concept to create a production of medical injection needles with a production capacity of 1.4
billion pieces," said Andrey Andrianov, General Director of Rusatom Metal Tech LLC.
Plates and pins for extra-cortical and intraosseous osteosynthesis and the necessary surgical
instruments for their installation, removal and replacement were presented at the stand of
Rusatom Metal Tech LLC.
