Rosatom will create an import-substituting production of titanium implants for traumatology and orthopedics

Rusatom Metal Tech LLC, a divisional integrator of the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom in the Metallurgy direction, has established a subsidiary Rusatom Implantat LLC for the production of import-substituting titanium implants for extra-cortical and intraosseous osteosynthesis. The new subsidiary is expected to annually produce at least 140 thousand units of titanium implants: plates for extra-cortical osteosynthesis of small, medium and large bone fragments, intramedullary pins for the treatment of fractures of the humerus, femur and tibia, and the necessary surgical instruments for their installation, removal and replacement.

At the moment, the registration procedure for innovative medical devices is underway, which will allow them to be supplied to medical institutions in the country. The launch of products to the market is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024, the degree of localization of implants will reach 90%. The companys products are expected to replace foreign analogues in the field of reconstructive surgery, which will increase the availability of Russian high-tech medical care and its independence from market conditions.

"The creation of own full-cycle production of implanted devices – from the material to the finished product - is Rusatom Metal Techs largest investment project for the development of medical industry in Russia. The enterprise capacity will ensure at least 30% of the needs of the Russian healthcare market in high-quality medical implants for traumatology and orthopedics, and in the future completely replace imported medical products in this segment. This is a very important project in terms of promoting top-level technologies, replacing a large flow of imported products, and most importantly, creating medical devices that meet international quality standards for the Russian population," said Andrey Andrianov, General Director of Rusatom Metal Tech LLC.

The production of Rusatom Implantat with an area exceeding 1.7 thousand square meters will be localized at the Alabushevo site of the Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone, which will allow the company to use the full range of support measures provided for SEZ residents and reinvest the saved funds in the project development. Rusatom Implantat LLC will create more than 80 jobs for highly qualified specialists and students of specialized universities and colleges. "Rusatom Implantat, the new tenant of Technopolis Moscow SEZ, is located in the Innovative Alabushevo Laboratory and Industrial Building. All premises in the building are of general purpose and easily adapt to office or industrial needs. This allows tenants to launch production of any level of complexity in a short time without capital investments," Gennady Degtev, Director General of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, summed up.
